Robert GrahamFollowing similar demonstrations across the country, Students for Palestinian Liberation (SPL) organized a peaceful sit-in protest at Fresno State’s Peace Garden on May 1 to rally support for Palestine.
YourCentralValley.com spoke to founding members of the Fresno State group to find out why. One of the group’s founding members, and President of the SPL, who identified themselves only as Haneen, says the conflict literally hits home for them.
“I grew up in Palestine, my first 16, 17 years of my life,” Haneen said. “It is really hard to watch your people being slaughtered and sit back and just watch with nothing being done about it.”
